Sausage and Kale Mash





A classic variation on mashed potatoes, this recipe is perfect with chunky sausages. Or if you fancy a change make it your own and choose your favourite meat or meat substitute dish instead of sausages.

Serves between 4 and 6





Ingredients priced from Asda


6 large potatoes £1.25

120g Baby Leaf Curly Kale (1 bag) £0.50

50ml milk £0.65

1 bunch of spring onions, finely sliced £0.40

1 knob of butter or olive oil spread

Salt and pepper

Butcher's Choice pork Lincolnshire or Cumberland sausages (8 per pack - 454g £1.80


Total £4.55





Cooking Method


Peel the potatoes and cut into small cubes. Boil the potato for 15 minutes, or until soft.


While the potato is boiling, clean kale by rinsing under water thoroughly. cook the Baby

Leaf Curly Kale according to instructions on the back of the packaging.


When the potato is cooked, mash it thoroughly then stir in the butter and milk.


Season to taste. Stir in the Baby Leaf Curly Kale and spring onions into mashed potato and season to taste. Serve with sausages or anything else you prefer!
